A love letter to nature (poetry prompt)

Dear Nature,

When the fog lifted today,

that’s when I saw your face (again),

wreathed in white ethereal flames,

that with the wind,

flew and gilded the sky

– so open, so free –

a blue pool for all to see and in that pool, I saw our memories

– of chasing the rising sun over a wayward plain,

made of earthen metals as the bells sang

– of breathing in the humidity and salt of your lapping, merry sea

while we climbed the waves with laughing, choking glee

– of the blue giants covered in your luminous fog

and the hiking and hiking all day long

– of the frosted meadows awaiting the brewing of tea

that time’s steeped through revealing the colored revelry

– and I just held those memories,

so close, so dear.

I thought I could never love you more,

Dear Nature,

but you always prove me wrong.

(This is a prompt from insta, and I’ve also posted it there. Happy Valentine’s day!)
